THE KRAYON KIDS STORY
Krayon Kids Musical Theatre Company was established in 1993, based on a lifelong passion for theater and a love for teaching young people the value of performing live at a professional level. Dianne Kohlmeier and Vicki Mills-O'Donnell (co-founders) followed this dream, and have watched Krayon Kids grow into a successful company that has worked with hundreds of young performers for many years. We continue to celebrate all the accomplishments of Krayon Kids Musical Theatre Company over the past 28 years.
Krayon Kids is unique for many reasons. Each show is developed from an original idea, and written exclusively with the cast members in mind. Our young actors, vocalists, gymnasts, and musicians inspire the story, scenes, and dramatic moments that make up the show. At every level, our kids drive what becomes a heartwarming, show stopping extravaganza on stage! Connecting to the cast helps us to also connect to the audience. No other theatre company offers the personal dedication and individual commitments we make to every one of our cast members! It’s an opportunity our kids do not forget, and a chance to see some of the most talented kids in the metro area showcase their accomplishments. With a cast comprised entirely of children, Krayon Kids thrives on the individual talents, creativity, and dedication of an extraordinary group of young people. The Directors become well-versed in the abilities of each cast member, and the shows are written and produced to exemplify these attributes. It is our intention that each original production offers a touch of “old-fashioned” family values, but still relevant to current issues and problems that kids face in their daily lives.

We believe in family.
Most of our cast members return to us each Fall, and have been performing with us for many years. Krayon Kids offers cast members a place to perform from the time they join our group, until they reach the age of 18. There is currently a growing number of “KK Alumni” who have organized on Facebook, and remain in contact with one another yearound. Every season, we host an “Alumni” show for past company members and their families to attend. Attending the Krayon Kids productions has become a local tradition for many community members, families, scout and youth groups, school children and just about anyone who loves live theatre!
Krayon Kids Musical Theatre Company is dedicated to the memory of Dennis Spaight, Artist Director of Ballet Oregon, because of his love for children and devotion to the arts...
